Navantia participates in the round table “4E, defining the systems of the future European escorts”
The Director of Technology and Digital Transformation and Director of Systems and Services of Navantia, Donato Martínez, has participated in the round table "4E, defining the systems of future European escorts", which together with Vice Admiral Gonzalo Sanz Eliseo, head of the Division of plans of the Navy, have given a vision of the European industry that requires joining forces.
The 4E (Essential Elements of European Escorts) project seeks the collaboration of industry and defense in Europe, in order to design common essential elements for all future escort ships, trying to be inclusive of all Marinas. It is part of the PESCO field, which will be approved soon and will pose a huge challenge for Spain and for the whole of Europe, in terms of promoting R & D & i.
Donato Martínez has begun his presentation by giving some data that show the convenience of unifying designs in Europe, to optimize development costs, standardize construction processes, increase interoperability of fleets and lead European technologies.
He explained that in the case of Navantia, capacities have been indicated where it can provide greater added value, with its own developments, especially in 4 areas: Combat Systems, Platform Control Systems, Communications and Information Systems, Navigation Systems and transversally to these 4 areas the System of Systems.
He has finally shown the collaborating companies of this project, with their corresponding lines of work (Navantia, Sener, Indra, Saes, Inster and Sainsel, among many others).
