The Naval Construction Director of Navantia, at the International Table “Defense Industry. Transatlantic cooperation”
The Naval Construction Director of Navantia, Agustín Álvarez Blanco, has participated in FEINDEF in the International Table “Defense Industry. Transatlantic cooperation ”, where the need for cooperation between all NATO countries and taking advantage of all the initiatives of the member countries in terms of innovation and new technologies has been debated. Agustín pointed out the challenge posed by the new Europe of Defense. It is an environment where technological and digital transformations are taking place and against which Navantia is making a great effort to offer the most modern new solutions and capabilities such as those included in the EDF (European Defense Fund): the European corvette, the 'digital ship 'or new operations in the cloud, among other projects.
He also highlighted the support of the Ministry of Industry for the participation of Navantia in European projects.
In question time and when faced with the question of how Navantia faces the incorporation of new industrial and technological advances such as the “digital twin”, Agustín Alvarez pointed out its own technology and its own developments as keys to making its products and services competitive and exportable.
He added that in the field of digitization, Navantia is incorporating technologies such as the cloud, artificial intelligence, Big Data or 5G, in addition to continuously monitoring new emerging technologies.
The round table was moderated by the DGAM, Admiral Santiago Ramón González, and had the participation of Jed Royal, delegate of the Defense, Security and Cooperation Agency (DSCA), Jiry Sedevi, president of the EDA, Thierry Carlier, Director of International Development for DGA and Jonathan Hoyle, President for Europe of Business Development for Lockheed Martin.
